“It’s important to keep trying to do what you think is right no matter how hard it is or how often you fail. Never stop trying” – John Wooden
You do not come across success just by hoping for it.
Sometimes, success in basketball can be a long time coming. You can never stop working; you can never stop learning to improve your basketball mental game.
To achieve true success, you need the strength of mind and body to work hard to reach your full potential.
You need the right attitude, self-discipline and the ability to put your goal before your own needs, if you are really driven towards reaching success.
There is, after all no substitute for hard work, dedication and consistency.
Intense hard work along with great skills will help you win one success after another. There will be innumerable obstacles strewn in your path towards success; however, what makes a great player truly worthy of the success that he attains is the ability to keep focus until he can reach his goal.
Giving up after a few failed attempts makes you a loser and losers never win.
A successful basketball player will keep trying and keep working until he perfects his skills. No matter how good you are now, you can always get better.
Evaluate how much improvement you have made compared to a few years ago. Indeed, success is not measured by the position that you are in, today but the amount of hard work you put in and the number of obstacles that you overcome to reach your goal.
The good thing about working hard is, that for people who are driven towards their goal can enjoy their hard work and consequently, the work does not seem unduly grueling to them. When you begin to work hard towards achieving success, make sure to work smart too. An intelligent working technique, along with relentless effort will go a long way in helping you achieve the success that you always desired.
However, there is just one ingredient that goes into success that is more important than anything else. And that ingredient comes in the form of consistency.
Most successful basketball players who have achieved high levels of success were not simply more intelligent or more ambitious; they were the more persistent hard working group also.
To be consistent means to fully dedicate yourself completely to a task, activity or goal. It means to fully stay engaged without distraction.
To be consistent requires a commitment on your part.
It requires that you commit yourself to a sustained effort of action over the long-term. What this essentially means is that you keep your word to yourself and others that you will follow through with what you set out to do consistently over a period of time up until the moment your objectives are achieved.
As such, consistency is all about your basketball mental toughness and your ability to be dependable, reliable and responsible for all your choices, decisions and actions.
Therefore, you need to remember that there are no short cuts to success in the mental game of basketball.
Hard work, complimented with an intense desire to overcome the struggle and to achieve success is the only sure shot of reaching success that you have always wanted.
