“Imagination is everything. It is the preview to life’s coming attractions”. Albert Einstein
If you had 60 days to transform your life, what actions would you take? Would you set goals first? Would you establish a daily routine? Both are good for short-term changes; however, if you want to transform yourself in sport and life, getting a clear vision of the results you seek is the first step.
A clear vision starts in the mind. Whether your goals are financial, intellectual, spiritual, or in athletics, it all starts in the mind.
You may ask yourself, “why do I need to start with a clear vision in my mind,” the answer is simple. Imagery is a game-changer! Imagery simulates the perfect actions towards your intentions, which trains the neuromuscular system. In other words, imagery improves your attention to the task because your mind cannot distinguish between what is real and what is not real.
Imagery and visualization are generally used interchangeably, even though they are slightly different. Visualization involves using the sense of sight, whereas imagery involves using all five senses- seeing, hearing, feeling, touching, and smelling. A vivid picture of the desired outcome is created when all senses are used, which is essential for performance transformation.
The Power of Imagery
Imagery has the power to motivate, transform and inspire you to greatness.
I recalled a memory from childhood when I dreamt about being a champion. In 1997, I broke the World Record in powerlifting.
It is suggested that the power of imagery is in the commitment to implement new goals, learn new skills and improve existing skills. This process must first take place in the mind. All persons born without severe genetic defects are born a genius. Howard Gardner of Harvard University stated, “each of us comes equipped with enough raw ability across the board to achieve that rare and mysterious state we call mastery in some mode of thought and expression.” I posit that we are also geniuses in our body and mind’s potential if we are born geniuses of thought and feelings.
Some believe imagery is successful for those born with exceptional abilities; however, imagery is not reserved for the gifted or privileged. It is available to anyone, including you. Are you ready to transform your life or the life of your athletes?
Elevate Your Game NOW is a course to help athletes enhance their performance using imagery as the foundation. The key to creating an effective image in the mind is in the answer to these questions. What is your biggest obstacle? What is your biggest fear? What does the best you look like performing?
The answer to these questions will drive the process; however, most importantly, it will help design a mental response that will become second nature in the game.
This 60 Day program will propel athletes and those that lead athletes forward to their best game performance.
