Do you lack mental toughness in Basketball? If you are having difficulty with any of these this Coffey Note will point you in the right direction.
Below are some reasons players do not perform well in games:
1. Lack of confidence – not believing in your ability to perform.
2. Fear of failure – avoid taking risk, afraid to make mistakes so you perform tentative.
3. Concern about Others – you are afraid to disappoint others, concerned about others judging you and your performance.
4. Pressure of game time – you want to win so badly that you are focused on end results and not the process.
5. Lack of pregame mental preparation – you do not have a pre game routine that you perform consistently.
No matter how much you practice physically, if you lack confidence, afraid of failing, concern about what others are saying, along with the other listed reasons you will not be able to reach peak performance in Basketball unless you develop and practice on your mental game.

My names Makenna, I’m 6’0″, and I have to admit I have good game. No, it’s great. On my own or just fooling around I can handle the ball soooo well, I can shoot anywhere I want, I can post however I want, and I’m just all around amazing. Then I get to my high school and I backtrack majorly. It happens every year where I get really good, and then I just backtrack. I know I can do these things, and I know I could do whatever I wanted, but it just doesn’t happen. I really don’t know what to do, I don’t know how to change it. I’ve never been the best at anything in my life and it’s my dream to be a star player, but if I keep backtracking like this I’ll probably end up quitting because it’s not worth the crap I deal with sometimes… I really need help with this because I’ve been told over and over it’s all mental with me… Help?!

Throughout my career I have struggled with 1-4 at one time or another.
We need direction for our 14 yr old son. He is a great nationally ranked player. His high school coach could not wait for him to get of age to move him up to the high school level. He has player on the AAU circuit since age 8. One the AAU level he has always been outstanding. While is 7th grade he played high school JV team and this is where it all began. He was no longer aggressive he seemed timid and only passed the ball. So as parents who have spent an extremely large sums of money on trainers, tournaments and travel, this is frustrating. He is now in 9th grade and on Varsity. It has gotten worse. Last night was the worst very frustrating he got on the court and simply passed didn’t try to shoot mat have looked at the basket once. We ask constantly what’s wrong, he says I don’t know. I thought I did my best. After finding your website I think he is suffering from performance anxiety. Everyone that has seen him play outside of high school admire his game and wish their kid had half of his game. Please help
