“Every quarterback can throw a ball; every running back can run; every receiver is fast; but that mental preparation that you talk about translates into competitiveness.”– Tom Brady
The greatest challenge that athletes face is to play at their best when it really counts.
Regardless of the level of competition, whether is a championship, nationals, or the Olympics every athlete needs to rise to the occasion of the big game.
That goal is achieved by working hard in practice and being mentally tough.
Before a big game or any game, it is crucial that you have the right mindset. The area that may make the biggest difference is your attitude toward the game and your mental preparation.
Your mindset impacts every psychological contributor including your football confidence, intensity, focus, and emotions.
A positive attitude will set you up for success while on the other hand; an unhealthy (negative) attitude will only set you up for failure.
Confidence is one of the secret ingredients that the best athletes seem to possess, regardless of what level they compete at. Sports
Psychologists define confidence as how strongly athletes believe in their ability to achieve their goals.
It is so important because you may have all of the ability to perform well, but if you don’t believe you have that ability, then you won’t be able to perform up to that ability.
A myth that many athletes have is that confidence is inherited or if you don’t own it at your early age, you will never be able to achieve it.
The truth is confidence is a skill that can be learned. Just like any other skill, confidence is developed through focus, effort, repetition and practice.
Your mindset is important in building your football confidence, which in turn helps you take actions and venture out of your comfort zone.
To build your confidence you must change the way you think.
A 100% of the time it is 90% mental.
