Cam Newton – Say No More!

“The goal is not to go 16-0 or go undefeated; the goal is to win the Super Bowl.”- Ron Rivera,

cam-newton-sports-psychologCam Newton is so well-known nationally for his football confidence, composure and the unenviable task of making yogurt look cool.

He is the only player in the modern era to be awarded the Heisman Trophy, win a national championship, and become the first overall pick in an NFL draft within a one-year span.

In his rookie year, he became the first rookie quarterback to throw for 400 yards in his first game. He also ran for 14 touchdowns, more in a single season than any quarterback in NFL history, breaking Steve Grogan’s 35-year-old record.

That’s why Cam Newton is viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in NFL history.

Cam Newton is known for his exceptional rushing prowess, but he also has been effective as a passer. He plays football as if he owns the entire field, every single blade of it. He always tries to dictate the field of competition without any fear. With this mind-set and football confidence, he knows that there’s another opportunity on his way.

“His running really got us rolling when we were struggling,” his teammate Olsen said. “Got us in a little bit of a rhythm.”

This is perhaps as impressive as Newton’s physical toughness is his mental toughness.

He broke two bones in his back less than two weeks of a competition. He bounced back so quickly that inspired his teammates to dig deep and play with unbelievable football confidence. In that game the Panthers won 17-13 over the Browns.

“It kind of speaks to who he is and his toughness, his mental toughness, his physical toughness,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera once said in an interview.

“But, for me to come out of an injury or an accident is not a big deal, all praise goes to God and it just shows that he’s using me in a positive way and I’m using my influence in a positive way,” Cam said during the recovery process. It says a lot about his positive football mind-set and motivation, which eventually helps him to accomplish his goals.
