Super Bowl Champions – Where They Are Now?

“It’s been great. We have no hesitation saying it’s been exactly what we hoped to get done. We’re physically right and mentally right and we’re ready to go.” Pete Carroll

Seahawks-mental-toughness-sThe Seattle Seahawks were the Super Bowl 48 champions. They didn’t just get this game given to them; they went into to the game with the right football mindset and a zone like focus.

The Seahawks claim that they came into this game preparing just as they would if it was any other game. We all know there was a lot more to it than that.

The Seahawks came into the game mentally tough with the football confidence of champions. They took a commanding 22-0 lead before half time. This just shows how the Seahawks mental and physical game was none other than perfect. The Seahawks didn’t just stop at 22-0; they went on to win the game 43-8, being one of the worst losses in Super Bowl history for the Denver Broncos.

The Seattle Seahawks completely dominated the game, and at times, it was hard to watch. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks franchise quarterback, was nearly perfect in the game, completing 18 of 25 passes for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wilson came into the game knowing he was going to have to play well and he did. His mental toughness, football confidence, physical and mental game was just as you would want it to be in a Super Bowl game – A+.

Not only did the Seahawks offense come into the game prepared, the defense had a great physical and mental game as well. Everyone thought coming into the game that Richard Sherman would be the one to make the difference for the Seahawks. Not only did Sherman play well, the whole defense made an outstanding effort in getting the win. The Seahawks defense finished the game forcing 4 fumbles and 2 interceptions on one of the best quarterback in the league, Peyton Manning. This was arguably the best defensive performance ever in a Super Bowl game.

Despite the breakout season Peyton Manning had this year, breaking the NFL record for most passing touchdowns in a season by nearly 10, Peyton didn’t exactly play exceptionally well in the Super Bowl. Peyton’s mental game was clearly off, causing the Broncos to lose the most important game of the season. Peyton ended up finishing the game with 280 passing yards and just one touchdown, which is extremely low, numbers considering the season Manning had. He also threw 2 interceptions which looked to be completely a lack of focus and concentration. With everyone asking him about his future and his anticipating leave if they win probably took his mind off the preparation for the Super Bowl.

Where are the Seahawks now?

The Seattle Seahawks are still celebrating the win, in hopes of having another great season next year. Their offseason is currently in full swing as they are preparing for the draft and resigning their current players who need contract extensions. They hope to return most of their current players, and pick up some players in the draft to improve their team even further. After the outstanding season the Seahawks had, adding more personnel will only make them even stronger as a team. In the end, it all comes down to who prepares for the game the most. Obviously Seattle had the best preparation, and their mental and physical game was right on point – A+.
